Route summary

Embassy visa

Cyprus visa required

Beninese passport holders need a Cyprus short-stay visa (type C), applied for at a Cyprus embassy or consulate (or its visa centre) before travel. A Schengen visa is not valid for Cyprus, but holders of a multiple-entry Schengen visa are exempt.

Conditions

  • If you hold a valid double- or multiple-entry Schengen visa, a national visa of Bulgaria, Croatia or Romania, or a residence permit of a Schengen state, Bulgaria, Croatia or Romania, you do not need a Cyprus visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period (MFA).
  • Cyprus is in the EU but not yet in the Schengen area: days in Cyprus do not count towards the Schengen 90/180 limit, and Schengen stays do not count in Cyprus (Cyprus visas are valid only for Cyprus).
  • Visas at the border are only issued exceptionally, in emergencies, with approval of the Civil Registry and Migration Department.
