  • Since 1 Oct 2025 almost all applicants, including children under 14 and adults over 79, need an in-person interview – first-time applicants should expect one.
  • Interview waiver possible only when renewing a full-validity B-1/B-2 visa within 12 months of its expiry, if you were 18+ when it was issued, apply in your country of nationality or usual residence, were never refused a visa (or the refusal was overcome) and have no apparent ineligibility; the consulate can still call you for an interview.

Transit through United States
