Indian ordinary passport holders need a visa to enter or transit Iran: the 15-day tourist visa waiver for Indians was suspended from 22 November 2025. Apply online through the MFA e-visa portal.

Conditions

  • A visa is also required to transit through Iran.

  • Iranian travel insurance is mandatory for visa applicants (issued via the e-visa system after the visa is granted).
  • Processing: allow up to 10 business days (MFA e-visa portal); some applicants are interviewed or must apply in person at an embassy.
  • Single/double-entry visas must be used within 45 days of issue (from 30 Apr 2025); the length of stay depends on the visa granted.
  • MFA visa-on-arrival page: travellers entitled to an airport visa apply online at least 2 days before travel and present the Grant Notice at the airport counter; the visa fee is paid in euros (amount not stated). The page does not list which nationalities are entitled.
