Iraqi passport holders need a Cyprus short-stay visa (type C), applied for at a Cyprus embassy or consulate (or its visa centre) before travel. A Schengen visa is not valid for Cyprus, but holders of a multiple-entry Schengen visa are exempt.

Conditions

  • If you hold a valid double- or multiple-entry Schengen visa, a national visa of Bulgaria, Croatia or Romania, or a residence permit of a Schengen state, Bulgaria, Croatia or Romania, you do not need a Cyprus visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period (MFA).
  • Cyprus is in the EU but not yet in the Schengen area: days in Cyprus do not count towards the Schengen 90/180 limit, and Schengen stays do not count in Cyprus (Cyprus visas are valid only for Cyprus).
  • Visas at the border are only issued exceptionally, in emergencies, with approval of the Civil Registry and Migration Department.

Iraqi nationals need an airport transit visa to pass through the international transit area of Cypriot airports.

Conditions

  • Exemptions include holders of a valid Schengen uniform visa, national long-stay visa or residence permit, and holders of residence permits issued by Andorra, Canada, Japan, San Marino, the UK or the US (gov.cy, Visa Code art. 3(5)).
  • Flight crew members of Chicago Convention states are exempt.
