๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ฒ Armenia

Armenia sets its own visa rules: many passports are visa-free for up to 180 days a year, others use the Armenian e-Visa or need an invitation. The UK FCDO advises against all travel near the eastern border with Azerbaijan. Below: visa rules for every passport, cash limits at customs and the tourist traps official travel advice warns about.

Common tourist traps and how to avoid them

Scams and risky spots named in official travel advice for Armenia, in our own words.

  1. Street taxis overcharging

How it works: Taxis hailed on the street may scam you with high fares; single women have occasionally been harassed.

How to avoid it: Use a reputable taxi app (FCDO names GG) instead of hailing a cab.

  2. Pickpockets and bag-snatching

How it works: Occasional pickpocketing, bag-snatching and theft from cars target foreign visitors.

How to avoid it: Leave spare cash, passports and valuables in a safe place.
